This is the top level documentation page for version 7.2 of ANGEL at Michigan State University. Each of the eleven links below will take you either to the documentation for the section, or to a separate detailed table of contents for a section. 1. Introduction

System requirements, and an intro for those new to ANGEL.

 

Public Home functions primarily as the logon screen and starting point for each ANGEL session while also providing public access to a variety of resources.  These resources include: Search for courses, Search for community groups, System announcements and news.

3. Home

When you log into ANGEL, you are presented with your personal page – Home.  Home provides you with access to all courses that you are teaching or taking, as well as to all groups that you are leading or participating in at your institution.  Additionally, Home contains a variety of tools to assist you with your instructional work.

4. Course Overview

The course or group interface within ANGEL serves as the core of the ANGEL environment.  It provides the instructor and the student with a variety of collaborative tools that enhance the instructional experience.  The following sections provide detailed instructions for performing course related tasks.

5. Course_Tab

ANGEL’s “Digital Dashboard” Course Home Page gathers the information educators need and assembles it with visual clarity and simplicity. Vital course information is displayed immediately on login in one central location with graphic summaries and quick navigation options. Featuring ANGEL’s “Activity at a Glance” information summaries, the Course Home Page provides instant feedback with visual graphics. The convenient “Course Guide” area provides helpful features you can expand, collapse, or click for navigation within your course.

6. Calendar Tab

The Calendar tab allows you to post course-specific schedule items for the day, week, month, or year. As the course instructor, the Calendar tab allows you to post calendar events for yourself, for select students in your course, for a team, and/or for your entire class.

7. Lessons Tab

The Lessons tab is designed to house the majority of your instructional content.  Here, you can create lecture notes, hyperlinks, quizzes, discussion forums, drop boxes for assignments, and more.  Lesson content can be accessed directly on the Lessons page or nested within folders or subfolders.

8. Resources Tab

The Resources tab is the central location for information concerning the course.  It provides students and instructors one place to see the syllabus, course bookmarks and institutional resources.

9. Communicate Tab

The Communicate tab provides access to all course communication tools.

10. Report Tab

The Report tab provides a deeper insight into student activities and progress.  Located in one central location to provide simple options to gather, view, share, save, or take action on the wealth of course, team, or student information at your fingertips.

11. Automate Tab

The Agent Technology located on the Automate tab support personalized learning paths and individual teaching styles while fostering enhanced student interactions and improved outcomes.  Agents identify at-risk learners as well as student achievements and milestones.  Instructors can easily tailor instructions with dynamic content availability that supports self-paced study, problem-based learning and conditional material release.

12. Manage Tab

The Manage tab provides a wide array of course management tools, including: common course tools to help you manage grades and attendance; environmental tools that enable you to alter a variety of course settings; and data management tools that allow you to backup and restore, import and export, and manage files.

13. Learning Object Repositories

The ANGEL 6.3 feature known as “My Content” has been rolled into a more functional feature called the Learning Object Repository (LOR).  If you stored files or other course content in the My Content section of ANGEL 6.3, that content is now in your Learning Object Repository. 

13. Appendix Explains the use of ANGEL's more advanced features. These include the HTML editor, Merge Roster Manager, Testing Security, Tokens and Environment Variables.
