Deletion of Messages from ANGEL "Trash Can"

How long will messages remain in the ANGEL "Trash Can"?

In order to conserve system resources, ANGEL will automatically remove all messages from a user's "Trash Can" folder that are at least seven (7) days old.

Retention of ANGEL Group Materials

How long will your group remain in ANGEL?

Group content will be maintained on the ANGEL system for as long as a Group remains active and has content. If a Group has had no accesses in a period of six (6) months, OR is found to be empty, then it will be removed from the system.

Administrators of a Group are solely responsible for the content and maintenance of the Group as well as archiving Group materials they wish to retain.

Retention of ANGEL Course Materials

After your course is offered, how long will it remain in ANGEL?

Course content will be maintained on ANGEL servers for two years after the completion of a course in the MSU Schedule of Courses. ANGEL support staff will notify course owners by e-mail before course content is erased. For example, a course that ends in Fall Semester 2004 will be erased from the system at the end of Fall Semester 2006.

Access to materials during the two years will be controlled by the course instructor.

Access to certain copyright materials may end before the end of the two year period depending on the nature of the link.

Maintaining Privacy Rights of Faculty and Students in ANGEL Courses

  1. General policy on privacy
MSU expects that all people with access to ANGEL courses will respect the rights of faculty and students as they participate in the educational process. Having access to an ANGEL course means that you may have access to personal information and academic work produced by students and faculty members, such as discussion board postings, drafts of papers and other work produced in the course. Academic norms and MSU policy require that you must not reveal any information about classmates, course work content, or its authors to anyone outside the course.
  2. Policy on tracking the use of course materials
Students should be aware that their use of ANGEL materials and communication tools in a particular course may be observed and recorded by the instructor of that course. These observations and records must conform to the use and release of confidential student records as described in MSU's Guidelines Governing Privacy of Student Records.

ANGEL Policy on Affiliate Groups

The ANGEL Advisory Group will serve as a committee of the whole to decide whether requests from MSU Affiliate Groups for ANGEL use will be granted.

Initially, the Client Advocacy Office will present a list of Affiliate Groups to the Advisory Group with preliminary recommendations on whether each group should have use of ANGEL under MSU's current contract with CyberLearning Labs.

ANGEL policy on mass disabling of courses

Objective:To assure that students do not see courses from previous semesters under their "My ANGEL Courses" heading on the ANGEL My Page, in those cases in which the instructor (course administrator) has not disabled the course when the semester ended.

The ANGEL system administrator will disable courses according to the following schedule:

  1. Spring Semester and Summer Term courses will be disabled at the middle of the semester in the following Fall.
  2. Fall Semester courses will be disabled at the middle of the semester in the following Spring.
