Known ANGEL 7.2 Issues

Upgrade > Known ANGEL 7.2 Issues

Several known issues have been identified in ANGEL 7.2, and ANGEL administrators are working with the vendor to address them. This list is being provided to keep the ANGEL user community apprised of issues, as well as the pursuit of solutions. This page was last reviewed on May 5, 2008.

eGrades export eGrades export is an MSU-developed tool, and is not funtional for the newest version of ANGEL. Resolution: MSU administrators are in the process of working with the vendor and re-writing this component to restore functionality for future semesters. Instructions for a workaround are available here.
Gradebook Comments Overwrite Unlocked student Gradebook comments can be overwritten if the assignment is modified or the grade is changed via the View/Grade/Delete option of the Utilities menu. Resolution: The vendor is aware of the issue and a future update will correct this issue. Workaround: only use the gradebook to update grades/comments and lock all student grades before modifying the assignment via the assignment editor.
Copy course - cancel on backup quiz prompt Users report occasional cancellation of copy course process at the back up quiz prompt. Resolution: This issue has been logged with the vendor and assigned an issue number. A patch will be released in a future update.
Copy course - missing file from source course Users sometimes report an error message reading "missing file from source course" when copying courses. Resolution: This issue has been logged with the vendor and assigned an issue number. A patch will be released in a future update.
Exporting folders from LOR When going to Utilities for the folder being exported from the LOR, only the folder and first item in the folder are exported as directed. Resolution: This issue has been logged with the vendor and assigned an issue number. A patch will be released in a future update.
HTML in message actions Use of HTML in message actions currently results in a server error. Resolution: The vendor has confirmed this is a bug, and it has been assigned an internal bug tracking number. A fix will be released in a future update. Current workaround is to remove the HTML from the message action, resulting in less formatting, but no error.
Signatures in course messaging Difficulties have been reported with saving a signature within a course, and inserting that signature into a course message. Resolution: The vendor has confirmed this is a bug, and it has been assigned an internal bug tracking number. A fix will be released in a future update.
Tokens in assessments Tokens are currently not shown in the assessment question editor but are still there and work when the assessment is taken by a student.  However, if you save the question while the tokens are not shown in the editor, the tokens are lost. Resolution: A bug has been logged by the vendor.
Undisclosed recipients When sending to multiple users using course messaging, selecting “undisclosed recipients” does not hide the recipients as intended. This is filed with the vendor and has been escalated in their hierarchy. Resolution: this stems from upgrade "growing pains." New messages in 7.2 are not affected, and undisclosed recipients works as expected. Old messages transferred from ANGEL 6.3 are the only messages where undisclosed recipients may be disclosed. ANGEL Administrators, with the vendor are investigating ways to hide these recipients.
Copying multiple assessments Users report issues when copying multiple assessments at once. Resolution: This has been reported to ALI and confirmed as a bug. A patch will be released in a future update. Update, 6/19/2007: As a workaround, copy assessments one at a time. This will prevent the error message from occurring.
User access levels In some cases, users who were once course and/or group administrators are finding their access level has been reduced to that of course or group editor. Editors may find they are course assistants and so on. This does not affect all users, and is being addressed on a case-by-case basis. ANGEL administrators are working to unearth the source of the problem. Please contact Distance Learning Services (5-2345 or 1-800-500-1554) if you find you are affected. Resolution: Service sponsors are working with the vendor to recreate these issues and troubleshoot them. Update 6/7/2007: ANGEL administrators are investigating ways to repair affected accounts on a large scale, and problem tickets are filed with the vendor so as to prevent future issues.
HTML Editor - source Opening a course page in the source editor and clicking save causes the HTML tool to strip line breaks, causing words to merge. Resolution: This has been reported to the vendor and assigned a problem number. Current workaround is to make needed changes in the source editor, then return to the HTML editor by clicking the "Source" button again before saving.
Next button and breadcrumbs Breadcrumb links within courses are not taking users to the right page. Resolution: ANGEL administrators are investigating the problem. Update 6/7/2007: This issue has been partially resolved by ANGEL administrators, and the rest has been filed as a problem case with the vendor.
