On May 10th, 2007, Michigan State University upgraded the ANGEL learning management system from version 6.3 to version 7.2. The ANGEL User Support Team, with the help of faculty, staff and students who used ANGEL during summer 2007, has developed the following tips to get you started in ANGEL 7.2:
When working in this new version, please consider the following:
- Messaging – Now shows all course messages in one place. Means that you will have lots of old messages. You can filter and delete unwanted items. Here is where you can find out how to do this: http://help.angel.msu.edu/Online_Documentation_ANGEL_7.2/Communicate_Tab/
- ANGEL 7.2 is highly customizable, allowing for each user to choose their own theme. The personal theme selector is available in the Preferences section. If you had a theme set, and it no longer looks as you expect, click Preferences then Theme Selector, and select a new theme.
- ANGEL tutorials are available online at http://showme.angel.msu.edu/.
Over the summer, multiple problems in version 7.2 were diagnosed and resolved and many enhancements were made to improve the performance of the ANGEL service. A list of resolved issues is available by visiting http://help.angel.msu.edu/upgrade/resolved_issues.php. Scheduled maintenance to the ANGEL system changed during the summer and it now occurs every Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Detailed information regarding maintenance appears on the ANGEL login page at http://angel.msu.edu, as well as on the MSU Service Status page at http://servicestatus.msu.edu.
